CommSec’s Tom Piotrowski says the market is set to open with a loss on Friday despite “reasonable improvements” in the US market.

“It’s a little bit disappointing we’ve got the futures pointing to a lower open where the ASX 200 concerned down by around 0.2 per cent,” he told Sky News Australia.

“I say disappointing because where actually in the throws of a reasonable improvement where the US markets are concerned.

“The Dow Jones is up by about a 0.25 per cent.

“But broader market S&P 500 is up 0.75 per cent and we’ve Nasdaq doing quite nicely with a gain of 1.3 per cent.”
