President William Ruto has been in the United States attending the United Nations General Assembly meetings.
On the sidelines of UNGA, Ruto has been engaging in bilateral meetings with leaders from all walks of life.
This is aimed at strengthening Kenya’s bilateral relations with the outside world, as well as opening up opportunities for investments.
On Tuesday, Ruto met at least four Presidents for bilateral engagements among other issues.
In a meeting with Luis Abinader, President of the Dominican Republic they agreed to offer assistance to the proposed UN Security Mission to Haiti that will be led by Kenya.
The two leaders also agreed to have the Dominican Republic establish a mission in Nairobi.
The two countries also signed various cooperation agreements.
“In New York, United States, met Luis Abinader President of the Dominican Republic; signed Framework Cooperation Agreement to strengthen bilateral relations, and exchange specialists, researchers, professors, interns and institutional strengthening programmes,” Ruto said.
In another meeting with Switzerland President Alain Berset, Ruto said Kenya is keen to explore more opportunities for cooperation with Switzerland to bolster trade and investment.
