Global law firm Dentons advised Czech-headquartered EPH on the acquisition of the Rijnmond Power Plant, a low emission 800-megawatt (MW) gas-fired power plant in Zuid-Holland province, from GSO Capital Partners.
Energetický a průmyslový holding (EPH) is a leading Central European energy group that owns and operates assets in the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Germany, Italy, Ireland, UK, France and Switzerland and other countries.
Partners Petr Zákoucký (Prague), Kuif Klein Wassink, Jan Jakob Peelen and Johanne Boelhouwer (all Amsterdam) led Dentons’ cross-border team, assisted by associates Sanne Jeurissen, Nick de Rooij, Kevin Boekhout, Gerard Koster (all Amsterdam) and other colleagues with subject matter expertise.
Commenting on the transaction, Petr Zákoucký and Kuif Klein Wassink said: “We are very pleased to have assisted on this strategic transaction, that marked one of the milestones of building up EPH´s presence in the Dutch power generation market.”
Peter Černák, a member of the Board of Directors of EP Power Europe, said, “As the supply of electricity from renewable energy sources continues to increase, energy from low-emission gas-fired power plants is necessary for ensuring the stability of supply. The acquisition has strengthened our share on the Dutch market enabling us to actively support the ongoing energy transition. We were pleased to have had Dentons´ team on our side. They nailed both the complexity of the deal and the related regulatory challenges.”
