Bangladesh and Denmark have signed a grant-based agreement worth about 300 million Danish krone (approximately Tk 474 crore) for the development of democratic systems.

The money will also be used to develop youth empowerment and gender equality, especially protection of women and girls’ rights.

Sharifa Khan, secretary to economic relations division, and Winnie Estrup Petersen, Danish ambassador to Bangladesh, inked the deal in Dhaka yesterday, said a press release.

Both Bangladesh and Denmark have a 50-year long bilateral cooperation relationship.

For a long time, the Danish government has been providing assistance to the Bangladesh government in the fields of agriculture, water and sewage disposal, communication media, climate change, good governance and human rights.
