Demolition is scheduled to start next week on the Lincoln Journal Star’s former production building at 900 Q St.
A demolition permit was filed with the city last week for the three-story building, which has about 110,000 square feet of space.
The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department on Thursday announced several street closures related to the project.
Starting Monday, the easternmost two lanes on Ninth Street will be closed between R and Q streets, while the westernmost two lanes of 10th Street will be closed between Q Street and the Interstate 180 on-ramp.
Also, all four lanes of Q Street will be closed between 10th and 11th streets.
The work is expected to last through the end of the month.
The building is owned by Drury Hotels, which paid more than $9.6 million for it and an adjacent 1-acre parking lot in March 2020.
The company has never commented publicly on the sale or its plans for the site.
City officials said they are not aware of any active redevelopment plans for the site, although it was included in a report last year as one of five potential sites for a Lincoln convention center.
