(ANSA) – ROME, SEP 10 – Italy advocates debt repayment with
serious rules under the future revised EU Stability and Growth
Pact, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti told German Finance
Minister Christian Lindner on the sidelines of the G20 summit
Sunday.
The economic situation of the two countries and the new rules of
the Stability Pact, whose severe fiscal constraints were relaxed
for the COVID pandemic but are now set to be at least partially
restored, were among the topics discussed by the two financial
ministers.
Giorgetti “confirmed the agreement on the need to start a path
to debt reduction according to realistic, sustainable and
serious rules,” said the Italian economy ministry. (ANSA).
