Cyprus has signed a contract with a leading, profile-raising Scandinavian firm to turn around the damaged financial reputation of the EU-member island, Philenews reported on Monday.
The firm – Kreab London – plays host to financial institutions, multinational corporations, groundbreaking technology firms, influential NGOs, powerful multilateral organizations, and respected think tanks, according to its website.
Insiders said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has signed the contract in a bid to ‘free’ Cyprus from corruption cases that have stigmatised it at an international level.
But to also present itself as a business field of action for serious investors who do not aspire just a temporary profit.
The reputation and image of Cyprus was seriously damaged by the now defunct Cyprus Investment Programme. More than once the Mediterranean island has been presented as a haven for investors of dubious standing.
A Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman also said that the contract was signed in July and it is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Economic and Cultural Diplomacy.
The campaign to be launched under Kreab London aims to develop a reputation that will bolster Cyprus’ strategic aims, from generating positive news headlines to improving bottom lines.
