Times News NetworkShimla: The special investigation team (SIT) has seized seven vehicles of the accused in the Rs 2,500 crore cryptocurrency scam. So far, the SIT has arrested 18 persons, including four police personnel in the case. The SIT has also frozen properties worth Rs 12 crore, including that of mastermind Subhash Sharma in Mandi and Zirakpur, which is worth Rs 3 crore.Police have arrested three of the four main accused in the case while kingpin Subhash Sharma from Sarkaghat in Mandi district is hiding in Dubai. Sharma earned Rs 200 crore from the scam and fled to Dubai with his wife before a case was registered. His Visa has expired now. Around 5,000 government employees, including those from the police department have invested in the crypto currency. SIT investigation revealed that police personnel first became investors and then agents. Seeing the SIT tightening its grip, many are moving courts for anticipatory bail. A few of the accused have gone underground and the SIT is searching for them.The SIT has decrypted the website used for the scam, in which many transactions have been found. Investigations so far revealed that 70 to 80 persons made a profit of more than Rs 2 crore.

CID to investigate KEA exam scam

The government has ordered a CID probe into the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) exam scam, which involved the arrests of over 30 individuals. The scam, which surfaced last month, saw the registration of eight FIRs. Cases of malpractices were reported during the competitive examinations held by KEA to fill vacant posts. The investigation has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department.
