Crown Princess spotted pulling pints in a pub

The heir apparent to one of Europe’s oldest royal families has tried out a surprising new gig during an official royal visit to the United Kingdom.

Tatler has reported that Crown Princess Mary of Denmark’s favourite diadem is called the Ruby Wreath Tiara.

It is a 200-year-old headpiece originally commissioned for Napoleon’s Coronation.

Following the Coronation, the piece made its way to Sweden and then finally to the Danish Crown Jewels.

It features pavé diamonds in the shape of leaves and rubies styled as berries.

It has been part of a variety of parure configurations since its creation in France in 1804.

On Wednesday, the couple visited the historic village of Woodditton in Cambridgeshire, where the pair found themselves in The Three Blackbirds Pub.

After being shown around the historic pub, Victoria, 46, and Daniel, 50, tried pulling pints before the Princess taste tested her handiwork.

The Princess was wrapped up in the cool November weather in a woolly beige jumper, which featured a silk champagne-coloured collar and cuffs and a pair of dark trousers.

After visiting a military training camp in East Anglia, the couple attended a gala dinner at the Natural History Museum in London.

Victoria and Daniel wed in 2010 in one of the biggest royal weddings of the decade, with an A-list guest list including Denmark’s Prince Frederik and Princess Mary, future Emperor Naruhito of Japan, Queen Rania of Jordan as well as Prince Edward and his wife Sophie Wessex.

The couple met when Daniel was working as the royal’s personal trainer and now share a son and the daughter.

According to recent polling by Sweden’s SOM Institute, about 54 per cent of Swedes are in favour of keeping the country’s monarchy, while just 20 per cent want to abolish it.

The Crown Princess enjoys widespread popularity in Sweden and has been credited with helping revive public interest in the monarchy, which is currently headed by her father King Carl XVI Gustaf.

Victoria and Daniel’s visit comes as their British counterparts Prince William and Princess Catherine face a media storm over Omid Scobie’s controversial new book Endgame.

The fallout of Mr Scobie’s book has now ensnared the Princess of Wales, with a Dutch edition of Endgame allegedly outing Kate as one of the two royals who made insensitive remarks about Prince Archie’s skin colour.

However, the comparatively scandal-free Swedish royals are not expected to meet with Kate and William during their visit.
