(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 23 – An allegedly ‘crazy’ European Union
ban on producing non-electric cars and engines from 2035 will
threaten 70,000 jobs in Italy, Deputy Premier and Foreign
Minister Antonio Tajani said at a Conftrasporto transport firms
federation forum on Friday.

“Crazy decisions have imposed a total halt to the production of
non-electric vehicles and engines from 2035 and this means
losing 70,000 jobs in Italy”, he said.

“I am not a denier, but the fight against climate change cannot
be a sort of religion, with dogmas that must be accepted by
everyone without discussion and that impose unattainable goals
on companies,” Tajani said.

“Environmental protection is not the destruction of industry,
agriculture, enterprise, and therefore of work and people,’ the
minister said. (ANSA).
