Plans for a Costa Coffee drive-through at a business park on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds have taken a step forward.

An application for advertisement consent has been submitted for various illuminated and non-illuminated signs at the proposed coffee shop at Suffolk Business Park, next to the A14.

Plans for the Costa and a drive-through McDonalds, from The Churchmanor Estates Company, at the site, in General Castle Way, were given the go-ahead in March.

A covering letter, with the signage plans to West Suffolk Council, said the nearest neighbour was a significant distance away from the site with screening between and would not be affected.

It added that the proposal was considered to be acceptable with regards to amenity and public safety.

The £6million development was expected to generate about 135 new full and part time jobs.

The application, from The Churchmanor Estates Company, was the first phase of a leisure quarter on the 57 acre Suffolk Business Park, next to junction 45 of the A14.

German power tool manufacturing company Festool opened its £9.5million UK headquarters at the business park in August 2019.

A petrol station with a Budgens and Greggs also launched there in December.
