Coolplanet Agrees Strategic Partnership with France’s LDC Group

CoolPlanet has signed a strategic partnership agreement with LDC Group to reduce the French agri-food group’s electricity and gas consumption during production.

The partnership, the contract for which was signed at the Irish Embassy in Paris in the presence of Minister for Enterprise Simon Coveney and Irish Ambassador to France Niall Burgess, is set to help LDC achieve its sustainability goals.

CoolPlanet said it has already helped the LDC to reduce Scope 1 emissions at its French sites by 83% this year. LDC has a workforce of c.23,500 people at 93 production plants and turnover of €5.1bn.

Wicklow-based CoolPlanet said it will will work with LDC’s maintenance and engineering teams to optimise energy use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“LDC is committed to sustainability and is constantly looking for innovative ways to improve its production processes,” said Dylan Chevalier, CSR director of LDC Group.

“This partnership will help us reduce our carbon footprint and achieve our sustainable performance goals.

Norman Crowley, chairman of CoolPlanet, said: “Our decarbonisation management system CoolPlanetOS was designed to help companies like LDC improve their energy efficiency and accelerate their decarbonisation.”

The latest available accounts for CoolPlanet show annual losses fell from €10m to €6.4m in 2021, with accumulated losses growing to €23.2m. Net assets were €6.7m.

The company experienced “significant growth” in the use of its Clarity cloud-based decarbonisation management system, and it started trialling technology aimed at reducing greenhouse emissions from mining last year.
