Inch & Co. founders give tour of future York sports complex
The proposed 250,000 square-foot sports complex would be located on the grounds of the old Central York High School athletic fields and would cover 13 acres.

The former Fat Daddy’s nightclub will soon be a Panda Express.
The Springettsbury Township Planning Commission approved the plans for the Panda Express at its April 2023 meeting. True Commercial Real Estate posted on Facebook in September 2022 that the the vacant building along East Market Street was sold.
The building will be torn down to make way for the Chinese fast-food restaurant.
The former owners of Fat Daddy’s, Matt and Sean Landis, bought Banana Max, which was in close proximity to their old nightclub.
Banana Max is now called Ripped Rabbit.

Yogi’s Oh Yeah Jerky: 380 W. Market St., York, in Penn Market
Yogi’s Oh Yeah Jerky, Pennsylvania’s first black-owned jerky company, has opened. The business produces homemade jerky in three different meats – pork, bacon, and salmon – and they have various flavors.
V&K’s: 380 W. Market St., York, in Penn Market.
V&K’s, inside Penn Market, has opened. They offer a variety of household, laundry care, baby and personal care items.
Stewartstown
Stewartstown Night Market and Aviator Brew Hub: 16 & 18 S. Main St. StewartstownStewartstown Night Market and Aviator Brew Hub will have a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m., May 19, for the opening of both businesses. There will be farmers’ market vendors, live music, food trucks and a bounce house.
Enola
98 Penn Place: 98 East Penn Drive, Enola
York County-based Inch & Co. has broken ground on their largest luxury multi-family community to date. The 37-acre property will offer 400-plus multi-family units, 160-plus townhomes, a clubhouse with a resort style pool, a double story fitness center, a dog park and several outdoor community spaces.
98 Penn Place is expected to begin taking reservations in late summer 2024 and be move-in ready by Fall 2024.
Acquisitions/Expansions
York County based The Conrad Company, a collection of brands focused on helping people in manufacturing and construction, has acquired Lubromation, an automatic lubrication company based in Charlotte, N.C. Lubromation is the seventh acquisition made by The Conrad Company in the last three years.
GreasePoint helps people in manufacturing and construction with lubrication throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. The GreasePoint team offers technical expertise, customer service and on-site installation and service.

Closing
York
Tuesday Morning will be closing stores throughout 25 states. The store at 2142 S. Queen St., York will be among the locations closing. It is not known when these locations will be officially closed.
Mechanicsburg
Brittle Bark closed its store at 50 W. Main St., Mechanicsburg. The company will remain in business online.
“The store is permanently closed but the website is open,” the company said.
Newberry Township
Santander Bank closed its branch at 36 Robin Hood Drive in Newberry Township on March 23. Accounts were transferred to the Camp Hill Shopping Center branch, at 168 S. 32nd St., Camp Hill.
Grants
Downtown Inc has announce the 2023 Welcoming Communities Grant Recipients.
The Welcoming Communities Grants Program is administered by Downtown Inc and is made possible through the financial support of Better York, Powder Mill Foundation, and the York County Community Foundation.
A total of $15,000 in grant funds were allocated to 11 different organizations/individuals, who will host events. Those include:
- Spanish Language Tour, developed by the York County History Center. To improve the accessibility of sites, funds will be used to create a Spanish language tour script, available through printed materials as well as an audio tour to better serve diverse communities.
- Annual Birthday Party, hosted by Keystone Kidspace. This free, daytime event for families presents all of Keystone Kidspace’s greatest hits in a bonkers party atmosphere that wows guests.
- First Friday All Ages Band Showcase, hosted by Skid Row Garage. Skid Row Garage has strived to bring in bands whose members reflect the community. Young people drive almost every social movement and are some of the most creative artists in a community. Those musicians who are under 21 are missing out on the opportunity to play on a stage with a professional sound system in front of a crowd, and this event will reconcile that.
- Immersive Mental Health Exhibit, hosted by The Parliament Arts Organization. The goal of the event is to increase awareness about mental illness which affects one in four people; over 50 million people in the United States alone. The hope is that through this bridge comes acceptance and compassion and helps to end the stigma that many people feel who live with mental illness.
- IM Downtown York Community Chalk Wall, hosted by Insatiable Melanin. “IM Downtown York” is a massive chalkboard wall that would go up in Downtown York’s most populated areas. This is an inclusive community-based “feel-good” project, that incorporates both members of the community as well as inviting people from outside the region to get a feel for the strength, love, aspirations and art of York.
- HOPE-fest 2023: “Celebrating Culture through Cultivating Change” hosted by Shiloh Baptist Church. The HOPEFEST 2023 is committed to bringing the residents of York City and County together to promote awareness, diversity, equity, inclusion and cultural appreciation in a welcoming environment. A variety of activities including entertainment, education, community engagement, health and awareness, sports and community give back opportunities are promoted during the event.
- Box Lunch Revue, hosted by Working Progress. Providing entertainment and a welcoming experience in Cherry Lane, to extend the positive experience of Central Market, while showcasing a clean park full of music, laughter and fun.
- Jam Time with the Arts, hosted by Boompop Urban Music Project. This free event will foster diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and cultural awareness/appreciation in a variety of ways by hosting at a local faith based facility known for its open doors. This family-friendly, age-friendly and gender-friendly event aims to encourage awareness of self and how we play a part in the bigger picture of our community.
- NENA National Night Out, hosted by Northeast Neighborhood Association. The block party brings together local community resources, free activities for children, free local entertainment and free food for the local community.
- Welcoming Week, hosted by YMCA of York and York County. Welcoming Week is part of the national YMCA Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Globalization movement, of which the YMCA is a leader among the country’s YMCA associations, that is highlighting the contributions and strengths of newcomers and immigrants while building connections and relationships between them and long-time residents.
- “Filmopolis” Film Festival, hosted by C&P Media LLC. Bringing together filmmakers from all walks of life, this collaborative brain share will welcome all filmmakers to York to discuss film types, cultural differences through film, and allow artists to be open minded and vulnerable.

Awards
Barley Snyder announced that the Honorable Stephen P. Linebaugh was honored as a fifty-year member of the York County Bar Association. The award was given during the association’s annual dinner held in April.
The YCBA is a non-profit professional membership association of attorneys and judges. It exists to serve the needs of lawyers, judges and the public of York County. Linebaugh was admitted to the YCBA on Sept. 25, 1972 and the Pennsylvania Bar Association on Oct. 5, 1972.
Linebaugh is a retired York County Court of Common Pleas judge who joined Barley Snyder in 2019. He chairs the firm’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Service Team and is a member of the Litigation Practice Group. In 2022, Linebaugh was admitted to the American Arbitration Association Panel of Mediators, the world’s largest alternative dispute resolution provider. He is also involved with the AAA National Roster of Arbitrators which is comprised of highly accomplished and respected experts from the legal and business communities.
Linebaugh has volunteered his time in leadership positions with nonprofit organizations including the Bob Hoffman YMCA, York County Crimestoppers, the Margaret Moul Foundation, the Boy Scouts of America, YouthBuild and the York County March of Dimes. Linebaugh is a lifelong resident of Dover Township, the same area his ancestors settled in the 1760s, where he resides with his wife Jane of more than 50 years.
CRDC Global
York-based CRDC Global, which transforms otherwise unusable plastic waste into an additive for concrete, was honored as a World Changing Idea 2023 by Fast Company. CRDC takes plastic waste which would go into oceans, landfills or incinerators and turns them into RESIN8, an additive which can make concrete stronger and more sustainable.

WellSpan raises its minimum wage
WellSpan Health is raising its minimum wage from $15 to $17 per hour, effective July 2, 2023.
The minimum wage increase is the latest update to a multi-year strategy to lead regional healthcare organizations by raising the rate, which will now be nearly $10 above the federally mandated minimum wage.
Like the last time WellSpan raised the minimum wage in 2021, the organization is enacting associated increases for many team members who currently make slightly above the new minimum, as well.
Boscov’s taking Bed Bath and Beyond coupons
Bed, Bath and Beyond may have closed, but Boscov’s Department Stores will take their coupons and give customers $10 off any purchase of $50 or more. This promotion will last until May 31.
Personnel
First Capital Federal Credit Union has promoted Andrew Dombach to Vice President of Information Technology.
Dombach has been with First Capital for almost 20 years, starting as a Computer Systems Specialist. During his tenure at First Capital, Dombach has held several positions including Network Administrator, Systems Administrator, Senior Systems Administrator, Information Technology Manager and AVP of Information Technology.

The York Symphony Orchestra
The York Symphony Orchestra has a new executive director.
Anthony Wise has served as the YSO’s Operations Manager and Personnel Manager since2021, but before that he founded and managed the Austin (Texas) Summer Brass Academy, which was an instrument specific workshop for Middle and High School students. Wise also performed as an elite trombone player as with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, aswell as the San Antonio Orchestra and others over 20 years.
Miscellaneous
Students from West York Area High School placed second in a business pitch challenge hosted by the Philadelphia Eagles and Firstrust Bank.
Seven teams of students from five high schools in the Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey regions competed in the competition, which served as the culmination of the Entrepreneurs Game Plan powered by EVERFI program. This digital learning platform implemented in 40 area high schools uses case studies, interactive business simulations, and personal development activities to prepare students for a future in business.
Thirty-five business pitches were submitted, and the top seven were selected to present their ideas on Wednesday, April 26, at the Firstrust Bank Club at Lincoln Financial Field. The finalists included students from five high schools, including West York Area High School and William Penn Sr. High School.
West York Area High School students created JersEaZe, a customizable jersey company. They placed second and received $1,500. William Penn Sr. High School created Bearcat Manufacturing, a custom products business, and received $500.
To prepare for the challenge, each team was given a coach from Firstrust and the Eagles. The coaches offered individualized advice and support to develop the initial submissions for the final competition. The pitches were judged by a panel of executives from Firstrust and the Eagles.
