- Oversight Chair James Comer revealed Monday that six more Biden family members may have been involved in shady business deals
- Brings the total to nine members of the president’s family who Comer claims benefitted from influence peddling
- Rep. Nancy Mace claims that number of family members involved is ‘wild’
There could be upwards of 12 Biden family members who benefitted from influence peddling by the president and his son, according to the top Republican on the Oversight Committee.
Chairman James Comer said that there won’t be anyone ‘left for a Christmas picture’ because the ‘entire Biden family’ is entrapped in the financial enrichment scheme.
There are nine known family members involved in the shady business deals, according to Comer, but he now says there could be at least three more.
While most names have not yet been revealed, Comer previously said that suspicious activity reports (SARs) reviewed by Republicans on the panel have found that President Biden’s brother Jim Biden and his son Beau’s widow Hallie Biden benefited from foreign business deals.
Democrats continue to denounce these ‘findings,’ and say that the claims pushed by Comer and Oversight Republicans are merely allegations without any ties to true wrongdoing so far.
‘How many family members were involved?’ Fox News Sunday Morning Futures host Maria Bartiromo asked Comer on Sunday.
‘Well, right now, we have nine. But I believe, in the end, that number will be at least 12,’ he alleged.
‘I mean, this was the Biden family influence peddling scheme,’ the chairman from Kentucky continued. ‘And when people say, well, they were involved in ventures around the world, I haven’t found a legitimate business on the Biden end.’
Hunter Biden’s lawyers have meetings this week with the Department of Justice, but it is unclear what steps might be taken against the president’s son.
Comer says that the DOJ is in a ‘pickle’ over ‘what do you do with this many family members of the president?’
‘I mean, there’s not going to be anybody left for a Christmas picture if the DOJ did their job and went in there and indicted everyone that has any type of fingerprints involved in this influence peddling scheme,’ Comer claimed.
‘I mean, it’s the entire family.’
Oversight members have been combing through SARs following a subpoena of the Treasury Department to look into business dealings of the president and his family members – mainly his son Hunter Biden.
‘There are six specific decisions that Joe Biden made either as vice president or president that are very concerning to us,’ Comer told Fox.
He said these decisions and moves are likely related to payments made to LLCs from legitimate businesses as a way to launder money to Biden’s family members.
‘I found legitimate businesses that were paying the LLCs that were then turning around and laundering the money back to the Bidens,’ Comer detailed. ‘But I haven’t found any legitimate business dealings on the Biden end.’
‘It looks like, if there wasn’t legitimate business dealing in any of these LLCs, it was influence peddling. And if you want to get technical, and if you want to get to a legal term, that’s called being a foreign agent. They weren’t registered as a foreign agent.’
‘This is bad. There are more laws that appear to me that have been broken than just tax evasion. And there are a lot more Bidens involved than just the president’s son and his brother.’
Oversight Committee Republicans reviewed documents last week suggesting that six more members of Biden’s family benefitted from business deals related to the president’s influence peddling – after previously noting three were involved.
The panel now under GOP leadership continues to comb through the financial records of the Biden family and interview those involved in alleged foreign business deals.
There are six specific decisions that Joe Biden made either as vice president or president that are very concerning to us that we believe could potentially lead back to payments that were made to these LLCs that were then laundered down to the Biden family members.
‘We’ve now identified 6 additional members of Joe Biden’s family who may have benefited from shady deals. This brings our total to 9,’ Comer revealed on Monday.
Democrats on the committee are again denouncing the moves by the opposing party, claiming that they are only conducting these investigations to gain ‘political dirt’ on the Bidens.
‘After years of pursuing political dirt against the Biden family, today’s statement by Chairman Comer once again proves that he has failed to uncover evidence of any wrongdoing by President Biden,’ a spokesperson for Oversight Democrats told DailyMail.com in a statement.
Oversight members went to the Treasury Department to review more suspicious activity reports involving Biden and his family amid allegations that Hunter Biden used his father’s influence to engage in foreign business deals.
The family members that Comer has already claimed benefitted are President Biden’s brother Jim and Beau Biden’s widow Hallie, who dated her late husband’s brother Hunter in the years following his death from brain cancer.
Rep. Mace said in a selfie video posted to her Instagram last week that the transactions she reviewed involved claims of money going to ‘prostitution rings,’ likely in reference to Hunter Biden paying money to an escort service to transport prostitutes across state lines.
‘Just left the Treasury to review over 100 suspicious activity reports on the Biden family and I have to tell you, there are more Bidens involved than we knew previously,’ Mace said in the video while walking out of the Treasury Department onto the streets of Washington, D.C. ‘And every time you unturn, overturn or look under a stone, there’s so much more you have to investigate.’
‘It’s wild the number of family members involved, and it’s even – the amount of money that we’re talking about in these suspicious activity reports is astronomical,’ the South Carolina lawmaker added.
‘And the accusations there, and the source of the funding or where the money’s going – the shell companies, prostitution rings, etc. – it’s insanity even to me that it’s not been investigated in the way that it should be.’
Comer revealed Monday that after the Oversight panel reviewed more records on Monday, it was made clear that the reach of foreign influence peddling benefitted more than just a few members of the president’s family.
‘We will provide more details soon,’ Comer said.
A spokesperson for the Kentucky lawmaker told DailyMail.com that the panel is not yet providing the names of additional family members who may have benefitted from the deals outside of Jim and Hallie Biden.
Democrats are furious, claiming that Comer and Republicans on the panel are drawing their own conclusions and mischaracterizing SARs as evidence in their probes.
‘Committee Republicans continue to mischaracterize Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) as evidence of misconduct or criminality, instead of calling them what they are: unsubstantiated tips that rarely result in any follow-up by law enforcement,’ Democrats on the panel said in a statement to DailyMail.com.
‘Let’s be honest about what this is—it’s another opportunity for Committee Republicans to rush to Fox News to mislead the public about what has been happening behind closed doors to justify their fishing expedition.’
Comer accused Hallie Biden – who was married to President Biden’s late son Beau – of influence peddling by receiving a $35,000 payment linked to a Chinese firm.
Republicans released last week additional information identifying Hallie as the third members of the first family wrapped up in Comer’s investigation. The new total is at nine.
The reports last week also claimed that Hallie received a cut of the $3 million from China sent to an associate of Hunter Biden, whom she dated from 2016-2019 after her husband Beau died of brain cancer.
The White House released a blistering statement accusing Republicans of orchestrating an ‘attack’ on Hallie as they accused the family of using their Biden name to profit off business deals around the world.
In a memo seen by DailyMail.com, Republicans claim that Hallie received $35,000 in two transfers in March from Biden family associate John ‘Rob’ Walker, after he received a $3 million wire from the Chinese State Energy HK Limited, a firm affiliated with CEFC China Energy.
