BlueSky Airlines (Cayman Islands) (Grand Cayman Island) is in the market for a new Dash 8-400 lessor following the collapse of EuroLOT (Warsaw Chopin). Caymanian startup, BlueSky Airlines, eyes intraCaribbean market
27.02.2014 – 13:21 UTC
BlueSky Airlines (Cayman Islands) (Grand Cayman Island) is planning to launch regional intra-Caribbean operations in the middle of the year using a pair of Dash 8-400s. Speaking to RoutesOnLine, Managing Director, Matt Ellinger, said his airline aims to offer direct connections throughout the Caribbean, which at present, largely rely on transiting via the United States, Miami International in particular.
“Our strategy is very simple. We want to open up new direct routes to enable connectivity without the need to make a change,” said Ellinger. “In addition we want to feed the area’s major hubs like Panama, Bogotá, Cancún, to make connections on to other parts of Latin America and Europe.”
Ellinger added that using an initial fleet of two turboprops, the airline would also serve other destinations out of its Grand Cayman Island hub such as the Dominican Republic, the British Virgin Islands, Nassau International, the Turks & Caicos Islands, as well as San Andrés and Cartagena de Indias in Colombia.
