Diarmuid Twomey has a simple, though somewhat familiar mantra: the only certainties in life are death, taxes – and renewables.

“The business case just keeps getting better for renewables,” says the chief executive of EMPower Renewables, sitting in his office in Ringsend – which boasts a magnificent view across a wind- and rain-lashed Dublin Port one way and over the spanking new buildings that line the Liffey quays on the other.
