Fairmont St Andrews, the five-star 520-acre luxury estate in Scotland, has appointed Callum Nicoll as the property’s Head of Golf & Estates. In his role, Callum will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of golf operations, retail, golf sales, greenkeeping and gardening teams, playing an instrumental role in the future success of the department and resort.

With 23 years of experience in the golf business, Callum started his career close to home as a PGA Assistant with Turnberry Hotel in Ayrshire, and from there moved on to join the team with Head Professional, David Fleming at Prestwick Golf Club.

In 2009 an opportunity to gain overseas experience at The Els Club Dubai presented itself, and for 6 years he grew his knowledge through varying roles from Retail Manager, Golf Operations Manager and Head Professional.  Remaining within the region, Callum then accepted the position of Director of Golf at Abu Dhabi Golf Club overseeing three Abu Dhabi HSBC Championships as well as the golf and leisure operations.

Relocating back to the UK in 2018, Callum has since held positions of Director of Golf at London Golf Club and most recently Director of Golf & Estates at the 5 Red Star Rockliffe Hall resort in the northeast of England.

The five-star Fairmont St Andrews resort boasts two championship golf courses, The Torrance and The Kittocks, and has played host to a number of prestigious events, including the European Tour’s Scottish Championship, The Hero Open, Scottish Youth National Championship, the Scottish Senior Open and is one of The Open Qualifying sites. In addition to golf tournaments, Fairmont St Andrews has also hosted some of the world’s most important politicians and powerbrokers as a venue for both Northern Ireland peace talks and a G20 Summit.

The resort completed a multimillion-pound renovation, which has refreshed the interior public areas with a contemporary feel using materials that reflect the surrounding 520-acre area. The Atrium features the magnificent lighting sculpture by renowned artist, George Singer, named Zephyr, which emulates shoals of fish in St Andrews Bay and the blowing reeds on the cliff tops. The resort also has a renovated Fairmont Spa complex, which offers a range of treatments including locally themed massages, facial and relaxation therapies and exclusive ESPA, Ishga Skincare and Aromatherapy Associates treatments in 10 chic treatment rooms.
