A NAIRN business organisation is calling for people in Nairn to give views and ideas over proposals for a heritage trail.

Nairn BID is inviting residents to share feedback and thought over their plans to develop new interpretive panels for a Heritage Trail to replace the aging ones currently along the seafront and other key locations.

They have launched a consultation on the trail in the form of an online survey and they will also hold public drop-in consultation sessions at Nairn Community and Arts Centre tomorrow (Thursday March 23 between 11.30am and 2pm) andat Nairn Library on Friday March 24 between 3pm and 5pm.

They will also be visiting local schools in the process.

This would involve creating new webpages to allow the stories to be enjoyed in more depth as well as a new leaflet to promote the trail to visitors. The aim is to work with the local community to gather stories and old photographs by running a series of free community workshops and walks. Volunteers would also have the opportunity to contribute towards developing the content of the panels and webpages by, for example, creating poems and artwork.

Lucy Harding, Nairn BID Manager, said: “We think there is a great opportunity to work with local people and organisations to tell local people and visitors about Nairn’s fascinating past. The proposed Trail will enhance the experience of visitors to Nairn by providing fresh, authentic stories told by local voices, and the new webpages will enable local people and visitors to explore the Trail’s stories in more depth. We very much want input from local people – so please fill in the survey or come along to one of the drop-in sessions.”

The online consultation will run until Sunday, March 26.
