Calamity Hustle: Ryan Reynolds & Channing Tatum to Lead Action-Comedy

[ad_1]

According to The Hollywood Reporter, A-lister stars Ryan Reynolds and Channing Tatum have signed on for the leading roles in the upcoming action comedy Calamity Hustle, which hails from The Lost City directing duo Aaron and Adam Nee.

Their casting comes after the recent rumors suggested that Tatum might be appearing as Gambit in the highly-anticipated Deadpool 3 movie. Should this casting rumor be proven, this would mark the first time that the Magic Mike actor would be portraying the X-Men hero after his long-delayed solo Gambit movie was canceled.

Calamity Hustle Sparks a Bidding War

Multiple studios and streamers including Amazon MGM Studios, Netflix, and Warner Bros. are currently in a bidding war against each other for the rights to Calamity Hustle. The outlet notes that Warner Bros. has reportedly offered around $20 million each for Reynolds and Tatum, while Amazon and Netflix each gave a $50 million offer for both actors.

Calamity Hustle will be directed and written by the Nee brothers. It will reportedly center around “a down-on-his-luck former Los Angeles detective-turned-private investigator who, after being shaken down by a vicious crime lord, must track down his estranged brother who is responsible for interfering with a diamond heist.”

Reynolds and Tatum are also serving as producers under their respective production companies Maximum Effort and Free Association. The Nee brothers and Kevin Walsh will also be producing through their Persons Attempting banner.
