NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — Bayview Rehabilitation at Scalabrini, a high-quality provider of skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, has announced the completion of a multimillion-dollar renovation and modernization project that has transformed the skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.

Bayview now features a remodeled subacute care unit with 60 beds, an elegant and welcoming lobby, and an expansive rehab therapy gym featuring a Smart car and activities of daily living (ADL) suite.

The gym was designed to support progressive rehabilitation services that help patients regain skills before returning home.

“We are excited to be able to provide the North Kingstown community and the region with the latest in rehabilitation technology and high-quality skilled nursing care within a warm and welcoming environment,” said Norman Rokeach, President of Marquis Limited.

Located at 860 N. Quidnessett Road, the 120-bed center lies adjacent to the Quidnessett Country Club and has sweeping views of Narragansett Bay.

Bayview’s experienced care team, led by Administrator Armani Sepe, comprises professionals who deliver personalized care daily.

Bayview’s subacute care unit offers an innovative orthopedic program led by Jason Tartaglione, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with extensive experience in general orthopedics and orthopedic trauma.

Bayview has a rich history dating to the 1960s as the Scalabrini Villa nursing home providing high-quality short-term rehab and long-term care. It doubled in size with a new building in 1994 and transitioned to new ownership in 2021, setting the stage for the most recent renovation.

Bayview Rehabilitation has also achieved the skilled nursing facility heart failure certification offered by the American Heart Association, the world’s leading voluntary organization focused on heart and brain health.

The certification provides an evidence-based framework for evaluating skilled nursing facilities against the association’s rigorous science-based requirements for heart failure patients, including program management, patient and caregiver education and support, care coordination, clinical management and quality improvement.

“Heart failure patients need high-quality care after leaving the hospital that follows evidence-based guidelines, giving them the best chance to improve their health,” said Sepe.

“The American Heart Association has armed us with innovative methods and additional tools so that we can be trailblazers and give our heart failure patients the best care. It is an honor to have our processes and efforts recognized in this way.”

Nearly one in four heart failure patients are readmitted within 30 days of discharge and approximately half are readmitted within six months; about one-quarter of readmissions may be preventable. This certification can support facilities’ efforts to stop preventable readmissions.

To be eligible for this certification, the facility must be in the U.S. or a U.S. territory and implement a heart failure program that uses a standardized method of delivering clinical care based on current evidence-based guidelines.
