Training event, job fair set in Sequim
Olympic Workforce Development, WorkSourceWA, Western Washington Career Path Services and the National Restaurant Association have come together to provide a comprehensive training event for the North Shore hospitality industry.
Scheduled to take place from May 1-5 at the Guy Cole Event Center in Sequim, the training event will offer a range of valuable training and certification opportunities for employees working in customer-facing roles. Participants will receive training in customer service, anti-harassment, unconscious bias, resume building and more. Additionally, those working in the food industry will have the opportunity to become ServSucess Certified Restaurant Professionals.
The event will culminate in a job fair set for 1-4 p.m. on Friday, May 5, at WorkSourceWA, 810 W Brackett Road, where local job seekers can connect with regional restaurants, hotels, and casinos in need of newly skilled employees.

MMGY NextFactor picked for tourism strategic plan
The Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau, in partnership with Clallam County and Jefferson County and other communities on the Olympic Peninsula, has selected MMGY NextFactor — a global company based in West Vancouver, B.C. — to develop a five-year Tourism Strategic Plan for the Olympic Peninsula, a plan to be completed in the next 12 months.
Clallam County, working through its Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC), took the lead on the project, reaching out to Jefferson County’s LTAC as well as other area municipalities that have combined forces to finance this plan through lodging tax funds.
The Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau is coordinating the Tourism Strategic Plan, which will serve as a guiding document for counties, municipalities, businesses, organizations and residents of the Olympic Peninsula to help in making strategic investments in services and infrastructure.
It will help to effectively optimize a sustainable, thriving tourism economy and will identify new opportunities and technologies that emerge as important growth areas for tourism.
“This Strategic Plan process aims to engage all voices,” said Marsha Massey, Executive Director, Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau, “and to build a roadmap to help us move forward in a sustainable manner, balancing the needs of our residents and visitors alike.
“We are very excited to be working with the experienced team at MMGY NextFactor on this project.”
The Strategic Plan Committee reviewed applications from 10 nationwide firms and interviewed four, with MMGY NextFactor being awarded the contract.
