CLOTHING MARKET

Business advisory firm, BDO NI has partnered with outdoor street food and retail market Trademarket in aid of NI Chest, Heart and Stroke (NICHS) to bring a pre-loved fashion market to the Linen Quarter in Belfast.

The market, which takes place on Friday April 28, has seen a number of local businesses signing up to take part, including east Belfast based vintage clothes shop American Madness who will donate some of their pre-loved denim to the market.

Organisers are encouraging people to use their spring clean to find their preloved quality designer fashion a new home. On the day, a special auction of some standout pieces donated by local style icons and well-known faces will also take place.

BDO NI has always been committed to supporting and facilitating opportunities for their trainees to manage their own CSR projects. This initiative is being managed by BDO NI Trainee Laura Wright with support from her colleagues in the audit department and mentor Laura Jackson (partner).

NETWORKING SERIES

Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NI Chamber) and NIE Networks have launched a new calendar of networking events, which are set to take place in locations throughout Northern Ireland over the course of this year.

The Regional Networking series is designed to provide member companies in all sectors across the province with opportunities to network and make new connections with people outside of their own industries, as well as learn from expert speakers on a host of pertinent topics.

Registration is now open for the next event in the series, which will take place on Wednesday May 17 at 9.30am in Magheramorne Estate, Larne.

Encouraging businesspeople to use the series as an opportunity to expand their networks, Christopher Morrow, head of communications & engagement at NI Chamber, said: “The series encompasses some of the most popular events in NI Chamber’s calendar, so we’re delighted to partner with NIE Networks again for 2023.

“It gets consistently excellent feedback from delegates, who tell us that attending is an ideal way to build their network in new locations and learn from others they may not routinely encounter. Many also find it a great way to meet potential customers and partners. We encourage anyone who is interested in building their network to come along.”

To register for the next Regional Networking event in Larne on May 17, visit the NI Chamber website. It is free for NI Chamber members to attend and costs £50 for non-members.

CLASH OF THE GIANTS

Some of the north’s most recognisable brands are set to go head-to-head in Belfast on May 25 as NI Hospice kicks off the Clash of the Giants: the most exciting, fun and unconventional charity event of the year.

Sponsored by local ice hockey legends the Belfast Giants, the fast-paced event will raise much-needed funds for NI Hospice to allow the charity to continue providing specialist palliative care throughout Northern Ireland.

Starting off in style at the SSE Arena, Belfast, home of the Belfast Giants, Clash of the Giants brings together several teams from local businesses and organisations who will compete to be crowned the winner.

Pitted off in a series of quirky and fun scavenger hunt activities, team-mates will navigate the streets of Belfast to complete quick-fire challenges that will truly put their teamwork and tenacity to the test.

Highlighted by organisers as ‘the most unique team-building experience out there’, this charitable event promises major benefits not only to NI Hospice but also to the companies who sign up.

Participation at Clash of the Giants requires a deposit of £500 to secure your team’s place, with NI Hospice setting a minimum fundraising target of £1,500 per team. Teams are in groups of 10. All proceeds go towards supporting the delivery of specialist palliative care services.
