KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI slipped again on Wednesday as buying interest remained tepid.
The 30-stock KLCI closed down 7.51 points, or 0.51% at 1,455.89 after hitting an intraday low of 1,454.52.
All indices on Bursa Malaysia, apart from technology, transportation and logistics and healthcare, were down.
In the broader market, losers outnumbered gainers with 530 stocks ending lower and 374 stocks finishing higher. Volume was 2.97 billion shares, valued at RM2.04bil
In terms of fund flows, foreigners emerged as net buyers on Tuesday with total purchases valued at RM233mil.
Local institutions and retailers were net sellers offloading equities worth RM211mil and RM22mil respectively.
Among the losers on Bursa Malaysia, United U-LI slid 29 sen to RM1.49, Hap Seng eased 28 sen to RM4.72, PETRONAS Gas fell 26 sen to RM16.92 and Pertama lost 26 sen to RM3.25.
Nestle jumped 30 sen to RM121.40, F&N gained 20 sen to RM27, Panasonic Manufacturing added 20 en to RM18.08 and Teo Seng rose 20 sen to RM1.65.
On the external front, MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares ex-Japan fell 0.5%.
Elsewhere in the region, Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.29% to 33,451.83, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index closed flat at 17,734.60, South Korea’s Kospi closed advanced 0.05% to 2,511.70 and China’s composite index closed down 0.79% at 3,043.61.
