Burlington County is hosting a Small Business Workshop series to help new businesses get off the ground and others to grow and flourish.
The Burlington County Commissioners and Burlington County Bridge Commission’s Department of Economic Development and Regional Planning will hold the first two workshops in the series on Thursday, March 30 and Thursday, April 20 at the Burlington County Library, 5 Pioneer Boulevard in Westampton.
A Small Business Resource Fair will also be held on Thursday, May 4 at Rowan College at Burlington County in Mount Laurel.
“Burlington County is a place where residents want to live and where businesses want to be located and grow,” said Burlington County Commissioner Felicia Hopson, the liaison to Economic Development. “Providing this type of expert assistance is one way we can help existing businesses and new ones find success. Keeping our business community strong is a priority.”
Burlington County Bridge Commission Chair Matt Riggins said the benefits extend beyond profits and losses.
“Small businesses provide more than just goods and services; they create jobs and become deeply rooted in the communities they serve,” Riggins said. “When our small businesses succeed, we all benefit. That’s why economic development initiatives like these are so important.”
The first workshop, titled “Basics of Financing Your Business”, will be held Thursday, March 30 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Burlington County Library, 5 Pioneer Boulevard, Westampton. It will be focused on small business financing and resources, and calculating what businesses may qualify for, as well as potential roadblocks businesses must overcome.
The second workshop, titled “Writing a Business Plan” will be held Thursday, April 20 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Burlington County Library. It will cover the benefits of developing business plans, steps businesses should take, marketing, sales and planning strategies. It will also explain how to write plans for different audiences, such as investors and banks.
UCEDC, a nonprofit economic development corporation that provides training and other assistance to businesses, will provide instruction at both workshops.
The Small Business Resource Fair will be held on Thursday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to noon, at Rowan College at Burlington County’s Student Success Center in Mount Laurel. Among the organizations that are expected to send representatives are the New Jersey Business Action Center, New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce, the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey and the New Jersey SBDC.
All three events are being organized by the Burlington County Commissioners in partnership with the Burlington County Bridge Commission’s Department of Economic Development and Regional Planning. All three events are free and open to current and future entrepreneurs.
