A business plan competition was organised by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University’s Business Incubator ‘Startup BLUE’ at Sagarika Hall, Bangladesh Navy Headquarters in Dhaka on Monday.
Chief of naval staff Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal graced the occasion as chief guest and BSMRMU vice-chancellor Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa delivered the welcome address.
The chief guest applauded the timely initiative of BSMRMU by arranging such a competition in order to implement the Blue Economy Policy of the government to ensure sustainable development of Bangladesh and he also congratulated the winners.
The vice-chancellor highlighted various current and future activities of the university for creating educated and skilled manpower and thanked maritime professionals, stakeholders for attending the event and also thanked the contestants for their participation.
In the start-up competition, students from different universities and institutions of the country came up with various new and creative maritime related business plans. The chief of naval staff handed over crests to the top 3 groups for their innovative business start-up plans.
A total of 20 groups participated in the competition and presented their creative business plans, said a press release.
