During the recent “mid-term” public meeting held by Minister for Tourism Kenneth Bryan, Bryan announced the possibility of additional flights and new routes for Cayman Airways.
Cayman to Los Angeles
One of the possible route expansions is the Cayman to Los Angeles flight which currently operates weekly.
Concerning this, Bryan said, “We’re looking at increasing that to two flights per week.”
According to Bryan, the reason for considering an additional Los Angeles flight is that it brings visitors and “connects us to Hollywood, the film capital of the world.”
As a result of this connection, Bryan noted that, under his Ministry, “the number of films, documentaries, TV shows and commercials filmed on Island is the highest it’s ever been in our history.”
Bryan added: “With our national airline going to Hollywood, it will help us to maintain success in this industry, supported by strong rebates to bring more business here. And Caymanians can benefit from being hired to assist with the productions.”
Bryan hints at new routes
In addition to the recently announced route between Cayman and Panama starting in June, Bryan said, “We’re working on launching two more next year.”
While it is unclear what these new routes will be, Bryan believes exploring these additional routes will bring “more even visitors and more opportunities for business and trade to our shores.”
Concluding, he said:
I’m proud to deliver all of these results because I have worked hard to bring tourism back and develop partnerships that bring business to our shores.
