British Airways starts selling NDC content through Amadeus

British Airways has started offering NDC-based content through the Amadeus Travel Platform in its home UK market.

The airline revealed in an update to the trade that NDC-enabled fares would be available through Amadeus from 2 May, including fares and ancillary products not available through Amadeus GDS.

“This is initially being launched in the UK and will be rolled out to other regions soon after,” said BA in a brief statement.

BA said that its NDC content would be available through Amadeus Travel API, Amadeus Selling Platform Connect and the Amadeus Cytric booking tool.

“By connecting to Amadeus Travel Platform you will have instant access to British Airways Additional Price Points and an expanded selection of ancillary products including additional baggage, seating and paid meals,” said the airline in its announcement to travel partners.

The airline added that NDC bookings made through the Amadeus Travel Platform will “incur a small fee”, which will be applied per passenger segment journey (PSJ). BA added that this fee is fully refundable when the segment is cancelled.

This development gives TMCs and agencies connected to Amadeus NDC access to BA’s Additional Price Points and an “extended selection” of ancillary products, which are not available in the Amadeus GDS. Agents can also use the NDC connection with Amadeus to display a seat map and directly book seats.

BA’s move comes a week after another UK carrier Virgin Atlantic agreed an extended distribution deal with Amadeus, which includes the distribution of its future NDC-based fares and products.

BTN Europe has contacted British Airways to find out more about the fee and the planned roll-out of NDC content through Amadeus.
