British Airways has doubled the amount of content available for customers to watch on its inflight entertainment system (IFE) since the start of the year.

The airline now has more than 75 complete boxsets and 20 classic franchises on board, along with 50 new movie releases such as Love Again, Paint and The Covenant.

The British flag carrier also has a range of exclusive content through its Paramount+ partnership, including Rabbit Hole: The Algorithms of Control, The Flatshare and Grease: Rise of The Pink Ladies.

Movie boxsets include the entire Harry Potter, Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible series of films. The airline has also created a dedicated British Original channel, featuring content such as comedy highlights from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2022.

If passengers are more interested in music content, the airline now offers more than 770 pieces of audio, while kids can enjoy more than 20 programmes within the ‘Summer Fun’ category, including The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Trolls, plus a brand-new Lego category.

British Airways’ chief customer officer, Calum Laming, said:

“We know just how important it is to provide a great range of entertainment for our customers to enjoy during their journeys, and it’s one of the things they look forward to most when they fly with us, so we’ve been working hard to source new content, doubling the amount available at our customers’ fingertips.”

Passengers can stream content on their personal devices if they purchase a ‘browse and stream’ wifi package. The airline is currently rolling out wifi across both its long- and short-haul fleet, with the majority of aircraft now connected.

British Airways has also revealed that it is enhancing its meal offering for customers travelling from London Heathrow to Delhi and Mumbai on both outbound and inbound flights. Passengers across all cabins will now receive a second hot meal, while customers travelling in Club World (business class) can also enjoy a range of chilled snacks.

From 9 August the airline will also launch a brand-new snack in economy class (Euro Traveller) on all flights from Heathrow and Gatwick, with the choice of banana cake or a sultana flapjack.

On land, BA has introduced an enhanced selection of hot breakfasts, afternoon tea and Great British Picnic treats in its Galleries lounges at Heathrow and Gatwick airports, while also updating its à la carte First Dining with local specialities and a British original offering across its US lounges in San Francisco, Washington, Chicago O’Hare, Newark and Boston.

Passengers travelling through Heathrow T5 can also enjoy a glass of Whispering Agnel rosé at the airline’s new wine bar.
