British Airways adds new winter routes to short-haul network

British Airways is set to strengthen its short-haul network this winter with plans to launch new routes connecting London Heathrow to destinations such as Riga, Belgrade and Cologne.

The three-times weekly service to Riga, Latvia will commence from 29 October, while three-times weekly flights to Belgrade, Serbia will launch on 31 October. Both services will operate on a mix of A320 and A321 aircraft.

New services to the German city of Cologne will operate 12 times weekly from 30 October.

The carrier also confirmed it will continue to operate its four-times weekly service to Ljubljana, Slovenia into the winter season as well as its four-times weekly service to Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), which launched in June 2023 to complement existing services to Istanbul Airport (IST).

Weekly winter flights from Heathrow to Turin, Italy will also become available from 10 December. This will complement the current daily service from London Gatwick with BA Euroflyer, the carrier’s Gatwick-based subsidiary. 

All flights will include a Club Europe (business class) option, including pre-flight lounge access where available, full meal service, priority boarding and additional baggage allowance.

Services will also be added the carrier’s BA Cityflyer subsidiary based at London City Airport, including a new weekly flight to Milan Linate Airport from 5 November, which will complement existing flights from London Heathrow. 

BA Cityflyer’s route to San Sebastian, Spain will also be extended into the winter season, with direct flights on Thursday and Sunday to the Basque Country.
