Ahead of the highly-anticipated return of Bridgerton, series vet Phoebe Dynevor has officially confirmed that she will not be reprising her role as Daphne in Netflix’s upcoming third season. The English actress first portrayed Daphne during the first season of the period drama, which she led alongside Regé-Jean Page.
Speaking with Screen Rant, Dynevor revealed that her absence in Bridgerton Season 3 won’t serve as an official ending for her character. She admitted that she’ll always be open for the opportunity to return in future seasons.
“Sadly not in season 3,” Dynevor said. “Potentially in the future. But season 3, I’m just excited to watch as a viewer.”
Bridgerton Season 3 will be based on the fourth book of the series titled Romancing Mister Bridgerton. Colin and Penelope will be succeeding the passionate love stories of Daphne and Simon from Season 1 and Anthony and Kate from Season 2.
“Season 3 finds Penelope Featherington as she’s finally given up her crush on Colin Bridgerton after hearing him disparage her to his friends last season,” reads the synopsis. “Instead, she’s focusing on finding a husband who will respect her independence so she may continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters. Due to her lack of confidence, however, her search doesn’t go so well.”
Season 3 of Bridgerton will feature new cast members Daniel Francis (Stay Close) as Marcus Anderson, Sam Phillips (The Crown) as Lord Debling, and James Phoon (Wreck) as Harry Dankworth.
