Bridgepoint, the London-listed private equity investor, is in talks to buy a controlling stake in Monica Vinader, the jewellery brand.
Sky News has learnt that the buyout firm is in exclusive negotiations through its growth arm, Bridgepoint Development Capital (BDC).
City sources said a deal was likely to value the brand at about £75m.
Monica Vinader’s products have been worn by prominent fashion trendsetters including the Princess of Wales and Kate Winslet, the actress.
In 2016, the consumer goods-focused private equity firm Piper led a £20m investment in the business.
BDC is understood to be acquiring the entirety of the Piper stake, although the brand’s eponymous founder is expected to remain a shareholder.
The company benefited from the surge in video calls during the pandemic, with women keen to wear attractive jewellery during them, according to Ms Vinader.
She started the business in 2007 and it now employs hundreds of staff.
Advisers were appointed to seek new backers a year ago.
Bridgepoint declined to comment.
