(ANSA) – ROME, SEP 26 – The spread between Italy’s 10-year
BTP bond and the German Bund hit the 190 basis-points mark in
early trading on Tuesday after closing on 186 points on Monday.
The last time the spread was so high was in May.
The yield on the BTP was up by 3.5 basis points to 4.69%, the
highest level since October 2022.
Europe’s stock markets, meanwhile, were down in early trading,
amid fears that high interest rates are set to stay for longer
than previously expected,with Milan shedding around 1%, Paris
losing 1.1% and Frankfurt down 0.8%. (ANSA).
