BGRIM, a leading player in the renewable energy sector, has launched a new project for a solar power plant in Italy. The Ortanova project involves the development of an 80.9-megawatt ground solar energy system, complete with a tracking system. This initiative is in response to the growing global demand for clean energy.
The undertaking is steered by RES Co Sicilia S.r.l., a subsidiary of BGRIM. The subsidiary gained complete ownership of LT06 S.r.l. by acquiring all its issued shares, a deal that exceeded 10,000 euros, said Harald Link, BGRIM’s president.
Link asserted the company’s dedication to its vision of empowering the world compassionately. He highlighted that this strategic expansion is in sync with BGRIM’s ‘GreenLeap-Global and Green’ strategy, aimed at nurturing enhanced global business collaboration with both domestic and international players.
In addition to the Ortanova project, BGRIM is also in the process of developing renewable power plant projects in Italy, which range between 250MW to 300MW and are at various stages of development.
Throughout this year, BGRIM has made significant investments in renewable energy power plants under subsidiary and joint venture schemes.
Link revealed that the company was selected to generate and supply renewable electricity for the Thai government, a project equating to 339MW. Other investments of the company include solar power plants in Malaysia and South Korea with capacities of 90MW and 99MW respectively.
Link highlighted BGRIM’s commitment to the construction and development of renewable energy power plants in various countries including South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Greece, the US, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Thailand reported Bangkok Post.
The company’s expansion in Italy aligns with BGRIM’s objective of increasing its renewable energy share to more than 50%. This would act as a measure against the impact of long-term natural gas price fluctuations.
Link underlined that the move demonstrates the company’s dedication to forming strategic partnerships and fostering new business opportunities, a key strategy in its operations.
