Beetlejuice 2 is expected to keep its release date as production resumes now that the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike has ended.

Warner Bros.’ Beetlejuice 2 is one of many Hollywood films now quickly resuming production after the actors strike officially ended at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023. According to Deadline, the movie is still expected to keep its September 6, 2024, release date given the movie was only a couple of days away from wrapping filming when the strike began in July.

“I feel grateful we got what we got,” director Tim Burton previously told The Independent of Beetlejuice 2’s production in September. “Literally, it was a day and a half. We know what we have to do. It is 99 percent done.”

Plot details for Beetlejuice 2 remain under wraps at this time. The movie will see Michael Keaton reprise his role as the titular bio-exorcist, while Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara will also reprise their roles from the original 1988 film. They’ll be joined by Jenna Ortega, who is playing Ryder’s daughter, and Monica Bellucci, who is playing Keaton’s wife. Justin Theroux and Willem Dave have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

What other Hollywood productions are resuming filming?

Other Hollywood productions that are now in a hurry to finish filming include Marvel Studios’ Deadpool 3 (which Reynolds revealed will now hit theaters in the summer of 2024), Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2, Clint Eastwood’s Juror No. 2, Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us, Brad Pitt’s untitled F1 movie, and Sony’s Venom 3, which recently pushed back its release date by several months.

Deadline reported that Mortal Kombat 2 was looking to resume production in 2024; however, producer Todd Garner clarified in a tweet that the movie will begin filming again before that. Disney’s Iron 3, the Jason Momoa-starring Minecraft movie, and DC’s Superman: Legacy are also looking to start shooting in early 2024.
