Accounting and consulting network BDO has recognsied seven of its senior professionals with an award at the firm’s recent global leadership summit, including Australian CMO Janet Glasper.

BDO Australia’s chief marketing officer Janet Glasper has been given a 2023 BDO Medal alongside six of her international colleagues, awarded to individual employees who have made a significant contribution to the development of the firm.

Issued at BDO’s recent global leadership summit in Vancouver, the honour coincides with a minor brand update and revamp of the firm’s local website.

Glasper has been with BDO for over two decades, joining the accounting and consulting firm in Brisbane in 2001, and was appointed to the top marketing position in 2021 after serving as BDO’s national head of clients and markets. A graduate of the University of Queensland, Glasper has spent altogether more than 35 years in professional services marketing, with earlier roles in the legal realm.

She also previously served as the Asia Pacific representative on BDO’s international brand & marketing committee, with the prestigious 2023 BDO Medal – awarded to just seven members of the firm’s 110,000-strong global headcount – recognising Glasper for “her outstanding contribution and commitment to marketing and business development at both the national and international level.”

Other BDO Medals went to leaders in the Netherlands, Germany, UK, US and Mexico, with a Special Award also being given to UK managing partner Paul Eagland for his far-reaching impact. Glasper follows 2021 honouree Belinda Thompson, BDO Australia’s former Brisbane-based chief information officer who now serves as global head of IT out of BDO’s Dutch office in Eindhoven.

Reflecting previously on her career, Glasper writes; “The achievements I have been able to accomplish so far in my current role at BDO in Australia have only been possible with the help of the many people I have met and worked with during my 35+ years in professional services marketing. Although I think excellence in leadership is important, I firmly believe that success can only be achieved as a team.”

Glasper further describes her all-encompassing CMO role, which among other responsibilities covers strategic planning, communications, social media, brand management, and content and campaign development – the latter which would have kept her especially busy of late with the recent refresh of the firm’s local brand, carrying the tagline; “We value people. We believe in ideas. We build trust.”

The marketing campaign is being supported by the launch of a new video featuring a number of consultants looking off into the distance before a smile crosses their faces, with the narrator saying; “For us, the reward of being in business is helping people – to achieve more, be more, dream bigger, and to create. Because something amazing happens when a human has an idea; you can actually see it.”
