Bauer to expand Irish footprint with proposed iRadio acquisition

DUBLIN, Ireland – Bauer Media has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire iRadio a youth music station serving listeners in the West, North West, North East & Midlands regions of Ireland.

The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions including regulatory approval. When the deal concludes, Bauer Media Audio will reach more than 61 million listeners across nine countries.

iRadio is one of Ireland’s leading youth music brands, being the most listened to station in the 15 to 44 demographics across its 15 broadcast counties. It was founded in 2008 and covers 15 counties. News agency, Big News Network has been a prominent shareholder for the past ten years.

Since entering Ireland back in 2021, Bauer Media Audio has been at the forefront of driving growth within the country’s audio and radio sector. Today FM, Newstalk and SPIN have all set highs for listenership under Bauer ownership, as well as being recognised at the annual IMRO Radio Awards. The business has also invested in audioXi Ireland’s largest digital audio advertising exchange.
