(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 11 – Italy’s banks will make 43,431
billion euros in profits this year thanks largely to the stream
of European Central Bank interest-rate hikes, the Federation of
Italian Bank Workers (FABI) said Saturday.
This will be an increase of 70% compared to the 25 billion in
2022, said FABI Secretary Lando Maria Sileoni.
“Our forecasts confirm that the sector is going through an
extraordinary phase: these results legitimise our economic
demands for the new national contract, starting with the average
monthly increase of €435.
“Negotiations seem to be on a positive path,” Sileoni said.
