Due to long delivery times for electric commercial vehicles, the company has switched to the alternative fuel as a transition period.

BAM has switched to using biofuel HVO100 for its commercial vehicles in the Netherlands. This acts as an interim phase towards the electrification of its fleet.

With this switch, the company expects to achieve a reduction of 2,000,000 kilograms of CO2 per year. Reducing CO2 emissions is one of the six main topics in BAM’s sustainability strategy. The firm aims to achieve an 80% reduction by 2026 compared to 2015.

BAM expects the first major delivery of electric commercial vehicles in 2024. Due to long delivery times and the still limited availability of suitable electric commercial vehicles, the company will switch to HVO100 in the Netherlands during the transition period.

The company’s approximately 1,300 diesel-powered commercial vehicles in the Netherlands have the option of filling up with HVO100 from now on until they are replaced by electric cars.

BAM has signed an agreement for the supply of HVO100 with WEX, provider of the GO fuel card. This allows the biofuel HVO100 to be filled up at over 230 filling stations in the Netherlands. In January 2022, BAM already announced its intention to switch to electric driving with its business (conditional) lease cars.
