Around the Hub: Nashbird nixes Lubbock, margarita deals on way, more news

[ad_1]

Hello A-J readers!

This will be a short column this week, as post-holiday columns tend to be.

Despite hopeful rumors that another chicken joint would join Lubbock’s ranks, officials with Nashbird said they “don’t have any immediate plans as of yet.” I am still waiting to hear back from other chicken franchises, including El Pollo Loco.

Chuys’ will offer a special margarita, starting Monday, based off of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The margarita will use The Rock’s Teremana Blanco, and be available through Feb. 26. For National Margarita Day on Feb. 22, there will be $1 floaters and $2 upgrades to Grande-size.

Dave & Busters also announced its new location in the West End Center at 2620 W. Loop 289 will open on May 1, and they are looking to hire 175 people to their team. This is the food-and-entertainments chain’s first location in the Hub City.

Looking into the coming weeks, keep an eye out for articles on a new Old West bar coming to the Depot Entertainment District, an upcoming brewery, a possible water park, and details on what is going on at 34th Street and Slide Road. We’re gearing up for a lot of news in the next few weeks, so stay tuned.

Also, we kicked off a new newsroom challenge. Typically, we go to lunch at least once a week, but tend to go to the same places. We found a wheel and decided to make The Wheel of Lunch with a mix of our favorites, and places we haven’t tried yet. Spinning the wheel will now become a weekly adventure, so follow our A-J social media platforms to recommend what should go on the wheel.

As always, thank you for reading and supporting the A-J.
