- Appointments and promotions:
– The American Society for Nutrition (ASN) announced the appointment of Heather Eicher-Miller, Purdue University professor of nutrition science, as director-at-large, nutrition population science, on its board of directors. Eicher-Miller has been a member of ASN since 2004, serving in various volunteer and leadership positions within the society. Her two-year term as director-at-large began on Aug. 1. Read more.

- Faculty and staff honors:
– Three strategic management faculty members and a doctoral student from the Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business were honored recently with best paper awards by the Academy of Management, the preeminent global professional association for management and organizational scholars. Professors R. Anthony Gibbs and Heejung Byun, and PhD student Koungjin Lim wrote “Build, Borrow, Buy…or Bail?” That study won the Distinguished Paper Award in corporate and international strategy. Helge Klapper was co-author of “The Hidden Influences of Blockchain Governance: A Study of Organizational Imprinting,” which received the Distinguished Paper Award in organization structure networks and relational strategies.
– The Health and Aging Policy Fellows program has announced Pi-Ju (Marian) Liu, Purdue University professor of nursing, as a 2023-2024 Health and Aging Policy fellow. The program provides a unique opportunity for professionals in health and aging to gain the experience and skills necessary to make a positive contribution to the development and implementation of health policies that affect older Americans. Liu’s fellowship will begin Oct. 1.
– Abbey Elliott, assistant dean of immersive learning and innovation in Purdue Global’s School of Nursing, has been selected for The Ohio State University College of Nursing’s National Innovation Fellowship. As a fellow of the Center for Healthcare Innovation & Leadership (CHIL), Elliott will join fellow innovators from across the globe in bringing ideation to fruition. During this fellowship, Elliott will explore ways to enhance a culture of organizational innovation and maximize innovation competence. In July, Elliott was appointed in by the International Nursing Association for Clinical Learning and Simulation (INACSL) to serve on the Education and Research Committees. INACSL is an international organization committed to advancing the science, pedagogy and learning acquisition of health care simulation.
– Michele Riley, associate dean of Purdue Global’s School of Multidisciplinary and Professional Studies, received the Distance Learning Administration’s Wagner Award in Innovation in the Distance Learning Administration category at its annual conference on July 23.
