Akwa Ibom State Government has pledged commitment to the promotion of entrepreneurship at all levels in the state for export as part of the effort towards achieving the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno’s administration
The pledge was made by the Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, at a one-day workshop and exhibition organised by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), in collaboration with Young Women in Business (YWIB), Akwa Ibom State, held at SON’s office complex, Banking Layout, off Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
Represented by the Director of Public Relations in the Ministry, Mrs Grace Akpan, the information boss, who was the special guest at the workshop, congratulated the organisers for the successful event and appreciated them for their well-thought-out theme, “Strategic Business Positioning, through Standards and Quality Assurance, for Exports”.
Noting that the knowledge gained at the workshop will help participants shore up their businesses, Ememobong emphasised that entrepreneurial development is a cardinal part of the ARISE agenda of Governor Umo Eno and, therefore, will receive considerable support for growth and possible export.
The Information helmsman lauded Young women in Business for keying into the ARISE Agenda blueprint of government and commended their collaborative spirit, which, he said, would help them to pull resources together for greater achievements.
In her remarks, the President, of Young Women in Business, Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Joyce Effie, said the event was packaged to mark the 36th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State with regards to the development of young women in business and listed the activities of the group to include mentoring, advocating and encouraging women to engage in meaningful ventures.
On his part, the South-South Regional Director of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Mr. Usman Mohammed, representing the Director General of SON, Mallam Farouk Salim, congratulated the organisers and participants, noting that SON is the statutory body, responsible for standardizing and regulating the quality of all products, goods and services in Nigeria, in accordance with International Standards Organisation.
