Air France has launched a remote baggage check-in and drop-off service for flights departing Paris Charles de Gaulle airport following an agreement with French baggage specialist Alltheway.

The carrier said the service will allow travellers to check in their bags at several locations in Paris and the Paris region via the Alltheway platform.

Following collection, luggage undergoes “rigorous security checks” at every stage of the delivery process before being loaded onto the flight, according to the carrier.

The move follows a similar agreement between the travel tech startup and French hotel giant Accor, with the service currently available at five Accor properties – Novotel Tour Eiffel, Mercure Tour Eiffel, Novotel Les Halles, Mercure Montparnasse and Pullman Bercy – as well as at major event venues such as Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, Parc des Expositions de Villepinte and Palais des Congrès.

Travellers using the service can track their baggage to the airport and subsequently to their final destination via the “follow my bag” tool in the Air France application, the carrier said.

The drop-off service costs €25 for one bag, then €10 per additional bag, and is available up to four hours prior to flight departure for all Air France services (except flights to Tel Aviv) from Paris Charles de Gaulle.

The carrier said it hopes to extend the service for flights departing Paris Orly and is “working on” a baggage check-in option from home as well as luggage pick-up and delivery services in and around Paris.
