Air France-KLM and Etihad Airways have expanded their existing partnership to include loyalty programme reciprocity.
The move comes after the three carriers signed a memorandum of understanding in September for a broader codeshare and interline agreement, which now includes more than 60 routes.
As part of the new partnership, members of the Flying Blue and Etihad Guest loyalty programmes can now earn and redeem miles in either programme when flying on Air France, KLM or Etihad. The carriers said reciprocal benefits for elite members will be announced “soon”.
Air France-KLM executive vice president and chief commercial officer Angus Clarke said: “I’m very happy to further develop our partnership with Etihad Airways. This 11-year collaboration is now expanding even further as we aim to explore opportunities in loyalty, in addition to enhancing our route network for the benefit of our customers from all around the world.”
Air France in October began a direct daily service from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Abu Dhabi International Airport. Etihad, meanwhile, operates daily flights to both Paris Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol from Abu Dhabi.
