- Sidley Austin represented Lincoln National Life Insurance Group, a unit of Lincoln Financial Group, on its $28 billion reinsurance transaction with Fortitude Reinsurance Company Ltd. The transaction, under which Lincoln will cede around $28 billion of in-force universal life insurance and fixed annuity business to Fortitude Re, is expected to close in the second quarter. Sidley said its team advising Lincoln Financial Group includes insurance partners Amanda Todd and Perry Shwachman and managing associate Jeremy Carroll. - Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe partner Meghan Kelly, as lead counsel for Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Ethicon Inc., won a defense verdict for the company in a pelvic mesh lawsuit. It’s her second defense verdict this year. (New Jersey Law Journal)
