The Lord of the Rings vet Hugo Weaving has signed on to join Gary Oldman in the upcoming fourth season of Apple TV+‘s spy thriller Slow Horses, which just started filming in London. In addition to Weaving, Joanna Scanlan (Notes on a Scandal), Ruth Bradley (Guilt), Tom Brooke (Empire of Light), and James Callis (Battlestar Galactica) have also been cast for the next installment.
According to Deadline, further details about their characters are still being kept under wraps. Their casting comes over three months after Season 2 concluded its six-episode run
Slow Horses is a darkly humorous espionage drama that follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping-ground department of MI5 known un-affectionately as “Slough House.” Season 4 is expected to “open with a bombing that detonates personal secrets, rocking the already unstable foundations of Slough House.”
Joining Oldman are Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Freddie Fox, Chris Reilly, Samuel West, Sophie Okonedo, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan, and Jonathan Pryce.
Slow Horses is directed and executive produced by James Hawes. Executive producers are Smith, Graham Yost, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Gail Mutrux, and Douglas Urbanski. It is a production by See-Saw Films.
