The company filed a required notice that the Texas Workforce Commission released Monday. Companies conducting mass layoffs must file notices under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

Bed Bath & Beyond to close its Lewisville facility, putting 374 out of work

Custom Brands Group decided to relocate the facility at 1400 Lavon Drive in McKinney, which produces its custom roller shades and custom 2″ blinds, to a facility in Agua Prieta, Mexico, according to a letter submitted to Texas Workforce Commission.

It plans to make the relocation on or about July 14. The McKinney facility will then remain open as an “Express Cut Down” facility, the letter said.

Agua Prieta is located on the U.S. border just across from southeastern Arizona in the Mexican state of Sonora.

Due to the relocation, two production lines at the facility are ceasing production, eliminating regular employees and temporary or contract employees. The first of the layoffs will begin June 9 and the company said the remaining layoffs will complete by December 29.

Hunter Douglas, which is based in the Netherlands, has been trimming jobs in California, Florida and Maryland as part of various cost-cutting measures, according to media reports in Sacramento, Jacksonville and Cumberland, Md. The company is cutting about 560 jobs in those three markets, reports from local outlets said.
