R.W. Knudson launches low sugar beverage line

DEDHAM, MASS. — R.W. Knudson, a TruRoots Co. functional blends and beverage brand, has launched a line of lower calorie, lower sugar juice beverages.

Formulated without sucralose or high-fructose corn syrup, the lineup includes eight new flavors, including cranberry, mango passionfruit, tart cherry and tropical blend. The launch, coming nearly a year after Knudson was purchased from J.M. Smucker Co. in a deal valued at $110 million, is part of the company’s strategy to accelerate the development of products aimed at health-conscious consumers.

“We believe the natural and organic category is ripe for disruption and are passionate about investing in great brands that consumers love and can feel good about, which is why we purchased R.W. Knudsen from J.M. Smucker last year,” said Bobby Chacko, chief executive officer of TruRoots. “Our new R.W. Knudsen Family 48-oz lower sugar line is a proof point of our ability to rapidly innovate to meet evolving consumer needs for high-quality juice drinks with a cleaner profile, at an accessible price point, and in a convenient size and packaging format.”

Knudsen’s juice beverages are now available at Kroger locations nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.49.
