SYDNEY, N.S. — Cape Breton University is gearing up to host a student pitch competition on March 25, bringing together students, businesses and investors to support investments in the health sector.

The event, in partnership with Nova Scotia Health, will offer participating students a chance to bring their business ideas forward for a chance to win $5,000.

Winners will also receive business mentorship from Invest Nova Scotia.

Four finalists will present their pitches to attendees along with a panel of judges from the startup, innovation and health sectors.

“Cape Breton University is excited to provide mentorship opportunities for these young entrepreneurs,” said Todd Graham, manager of Island Sandbox. “We are looking forward to more of these kinds of future health innovation that will be coming from CBU students as we look to contribute to solving some of the health issues in our province.”

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Pit Lounge and will feature the live pitch competition along with a light lunch and a networking mixer.

Although RSVP for in-person attendance is closed, virtual attendance is available.
