Users of the SAP Concur online booking tool (OBT) will be able to see more detailed emissions calculations for flights at the point of sale, thanks to a new partnership between consultancy Advito and tech firm Tripkicks.
The development will see Advito’s Gate4 carbon emission figures being displayed on the air travel search results page on SAP Concur’s OBT through Tripkicks’ integration with the booking platform.
Advito’s Gate4 methodology for calculating carbon emissions received certification from the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) two years ago. It accounts for several factors when estimating emissions, such as aircraft type and other environmental impacts.
Julien Etchanchu, senior director of Advito’s sustainable collaboration practice, said: “This partnership embodies our dedication to making business travel an integral part of achieving company-wide emissions reduction targets.
“Our goal is to encourage businesses to adopt a purposeful travel framework, and when their travellers do head out on the road, we help them travel better.”
When a traveller searches for a flight in Concur Travel, they will see Gate4 emissions figures for each flight, along with a green leaf icon to highlight the most sustainable options. The addition of emissions data will not affect the sort order of the search results.
Colleen Black, VP of Tripkicks business development, added: “Our partnership with Advito is a step towards providing transparency that empowers informed travel decisions.
“Together, we are bringing our combined expertise to businesses across a range of industries and providing a comprehensive solution for sustainable business travel.”
The solution is set to be further upgraded later this year to include Gate4 emissions figures on hotel and rail search results.
