James Gunn, Co-CEO of DC Studios and frequent superhero movie director, has posted on Twitter to clear up some misconceptions about the upcoming Superman: Legacy.
A Twitter user asked Gunn if the potential Man of Steel sequel was turned into Superman: Legacy, or if Superman: Legacy was always a separate project. This refers to an Instagram story of Gunn’s that said that Creature Commandos and Superman: Legacy were both already in development before he and Peter Safran took the DCU’s reins.
The director stated that Superman: Legacy was always its own separate project , rather than a retool of the Man of Steel sequel.
The Co-CEO further clarified that Superman: Legacy was indeed around prior to his promotion last October and that he was hired to write it six months ago.
Finally, Gunn responded to another user who said that Henry Cavill should have stayed in the role of Clark Kent if Superman was going to have a child. The filmmaker clarified that he never said that Clark Kent would have a child.
The DC Universe’s first phase, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will feature a multitude of different movies and television shows. A few of the announced projects include a Batman and Robin-focused movie called The Brave and the Bold, a Supergirl movie titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing film, and multiple TV shows.
